The World Health Organization (WHO) wants once again to investigate the origin of the coronavirus outbreak in China, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Friday.
The investigation should focus on labs around Wuhan, the Chinese city where the virus broke out.
A WHO research team already researched in and around Wuhan earlier this year. Still, Tedros said earlier that lack of data about the first days of the outbreak hampered the investigations.
The previous investigation indicated that the virus likely passed from bats to humans via another animal. Still, some countries, including the United States, and scientists continued to push for further investigation at a lab in Wuhan that was investigating viruses, including coronaviruses…
It remains to be seen whether it will come from a second mission: China has not yet announced whether the researchers are welcome again and has always rejected the assumption that the virus came from a laboratory.
