The World Health Organization (WHO) reported a record number of new corona infections on Friday.
228,102 cases were added worldwide in 24 hours. The previous sad record was dated July 4 with 212,326.
The daily death toll from Covid-19 remained stable at about 5,000. Meanwhile, the disease has killed more than 555,000 people.
According to WHO, the number of registered corona infections has now passed the 12 million mark.
The statisticians of Johns Hopkins University and WorldOmeter previously announced this. The most significant sources of fire are still the United States, Brazil and India.
South Africa is rising sharply on the list with more than 13,500 new cases on Thursday.
