In the Palestinian territories, the vaccination campaign against the coronavirus started this week, slowly. 10,000 doses of Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine arrive today after Israel delivered 2,000 vaccines earlier this week.
The Palestinian vaccination campaign contrasts sharply with that of Israel, where more than a third of the population has already been injected.
In Ramallah, West Bank, 10,000 doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine arrive today, enough to vaccinate 5,000 people. Palestinian Health Minister Mai Alkaila announced this.
The Palestinian Territories also expect 37,000 vaccines from the United Nations worldwide Covax program in the coming weeks.
2,000 Moderna vaccines were delivered from Israel earlier this week, on Tuesday. There are 3,000 more on the way. The first shots were given to doctors and nurses in Ramallah.
