US President Donald Trump has made another attempt to prevent financial documents, including his tax returns, from being released to Manhattan justice.
The President’s lawyers filed a lawsuit with a New York court on Monday (local time) to declare a subpoena of justice “invalid and unenforceable.”
According to Trump’s lawyers, the subpoena is “incredibly extensive.” Also, it was said to have been issued “with bad intentions” and equated with “intimidation” of the President.
Trump had previously been brought to the U.S. Supreme Court in a legal dispute over the documents requested by Prosecutor Cyrus Vance from his accounting firm Mazars.
The Supreme Court ruled in early July that Trump, as President, is not exempt from the obligation to provide evidence in criminal proceedings upon request.
