The United Kingdom and the European Union have signed a post-Brexit trade deal on Northern Ireland. The BBC and Reuters, among others, report this.
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen met in London on Monday to finally reach a trade deal on Northern Ireland.
The two will explain the agreement at a press conference later today.
Brexit has been a fact since 2020, but the situation in Northern Ireland continued to cause problems. Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom but shares a land border with Ireland, a member of the EU.
Trade negotiations have been going on for more than a year. Things have intensified in recent months and weeks, but now an agreement has been reached.
