The US Sees Progress in Consultation With Europe on Opening Borders

The United States sees progress in talks with the European Union on border reopening. Due to the corona crisis, Europe is locked for most Americans and vice versa for most Europeans.

According to US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, the parties have progressed.

“We have made real progress, technical progress,” said Pompeo, without giving any details. He said the intention is to establish a “safe system” for travel.

The EU recently decided to reopen European borders to a range of countries. But the United States was not included.

According to the EU, the risk is still too considerable. The US government in Washington has not yet taken steps to allow travel for certain countries.
