For Max Verstappen, the second free practice of the Grand Prix of Emilia Romagna in Formula 1 ended early. The Red Bull driver encountered a problem after five laps and had to put his car aside.
The team announced that he would no longer play on Friday afternoon.
“Something is broken”, said Verstappen via the team radio. The team asked him to come back to the pits, but the Limburger had to put the car next to the track.
Verstappen had set the third-fastest time in the first free practice at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola on Friday morning. He was only 0.058 seconds slower than the Finn Valtteri Bottas in the Mercedes.
Verstappen’s teammate Sergio Pérez sustained a broken rear tire in that training after a collision with Frenchman Esteban Ocon.
