Tech giant Samsung has sent out invitations to a critical Galaxy Unpacked event on February 9. The company will present its next-generation flagship smartphones there, likely christening the Galaxy S22 series.
For the announcement of its next top smartphone, the South Korean tech giant is already short of superlatives: “To create the devices that move us forward, rewrite the future and bring light to the dark, we continue to break the rules of what is possible.” with a smartphone.’ Samsung even talks about ‘a new epic standard’ for mobile phones a little further on.
Powerful language, especially if insiders don’t expect too big updates from the S22 series. There would be three different models, which roughly follow the dimensions of the iPhone 13 in terms of size. Many rumour sites assume a 6.1-inch S22, a 6.5-inch S22 Plus and a 6.8-inch S22 Ultra. That largest device embroiders a bit more on the Samsung Galaxy Note family and comes with an S-Pen that you can store in the device itself. The Ultra would also get a fourth camera, while the optical island of the two other models ‘only’ houses three lenses.
Insiders mainly expect better image quality from the S22 series due to significantly increased resolutions. For example, the S22 and S22 Plus optics would be good for 50 megapixels. In contrast, the iPhone 13 is currently still stuck on 12 MP lenses (for the iPhone 14, Apple would consider a resolution of 48 megapixels). As a result, the image quality of the Galaxy S22 Ultra could even reach 108 megapixels.
For the exact specifications, you have to be patient until February 9. However, Samsung has already put the teaser below on YouTube for the Galaxy Unpacked 2022 event. On that day itself, the presentation can be followed via a livestream.
