Return of Formula 1 in Turkey Without Spectators

The return of Formula 1 to Turkey is happening in front of empty stands. The organizers of the race at Istanbul Park hoped to welcome about 100,000 fans in November and therefore offered the tickets at meagre prices.

Due to the rapidly increasing number of corona infections in the country, the authorities in Istanbul have now decided that the GP of Turkey will be held without an audience.

The formula returns to Istanbul after nine years. Sebastian Vettel won the last GP of Turkey in a Red Bull car in 2011.

The race at Istanbul Park was added to the Formula 1 calendar in August, which was utterly disrupted as a result of the corona crisis. For example, the Dutch GP at Zandvoort disappeared from the program.

With dirt cheap tickets, the most affordable of which cost 10 euros, the organization hoped to provide well-stocked stands.

Some 40,000 tickets have already been sold. However, all those fans have to watch the race at home in front of the TV on November 15.
