Prime Minister of the densely populated German state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), Armin Laschet, on Friday, rallied behind the leaders who want an immediate strict lockdown across the country.
He believes that the current rise in the number of corona infections and the number of deaths prompts immediate drastic measures.
Laschet says he would prefer to close all companies that do not serve any basic necessities on Monday.
The federal government should support the affected companies. Education has almost stopped.
The state prime minister also wants people who have been to places where an outbreak of corona has been established to be quarantined as a preventive measure. He was somewhat cautious about severe restrictions related to economic damage.
Recently, he argued in a newspaper that the corona measures could not be sustained because of the social and economic impact.
