Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky denounces “hundreds of rapes” in areas until recently occupied by the Russian military. But, according to Zelensky, it also concerns underage girls and small children.
“In the zones liberated from the occupiers, Russia’s registration and war crimes investigation continue. As a result, we find new mass graves almost every day,” the president told the Lithuanian parliament via video link. “Thousands and thousands of victims. Hundreds of torture cases. We keep finding bodies in drains and basements.”
The president said that hundreds of rapes, including “underage girls and very small children,” have been recorded. “Even a baby!” said the Ukrainian president. Then, without going into detail, he talked about a video that he believes was sent by a paratrooper or a member of the Russian special services. It shows “what he does to that baby, how he tortures it.”
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda reacted with emotion to Zelensky’s statement. “It’s just impossible to imagine a greater horror,” Nauseda said.
Zelenski also lashed out at Europe earlier. “Some EU countries cannot commit if they at least noticeably reduce the purchase of Russian energy resources,” he told the Lithuanian parliament.
