The parents and a friend of Khamzat Azimov, the perpetrator of the knife attack in Paris, are still in prison for examination. This is reported by an official involved in the investigation according to news agency AP. Researchers want during the interrogations especially to get clear if the dead man shot in some way helped with his act.
The 20-year-old Azimov killed a passerby in the centre of Paris on Saturday with a kitchen knife. Then he swung around with the sword, and four more were wounded before being shot dead by runners, writes The English News.
The parents of the young man from Chechnya were arrested the same day by the police and taken for interrogation. Azimov recently lived with his parents in the northeast of Paris. Their home was also searched, but nothing was found to be stressful.
A friend (20) of the perpetrator was arrested yesterday in Strasbourg, the city in the northeast of France where Azimov grew up after having received French nationality in 2010 – after a political asylum. The house of this man was also searched. A computer has been seized. Researchers hope to gain more clarity through the interrogations about what drove Azimov and whether he acted alone or not.
