Russians have had to do without Netflix since last weekend. The company stops its services due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Netflix is no longer available in Russia through both the site and the app. A spokesperson for the company confirmed the shutdown to various media after it had previously also indicated that it would stop.
The reason lies with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The war has been dragging on for several months and has sparked a wave of sanctions against Russia. In recent weeks, several technology companies have stopped providing products or services to Russia.
For Netflix, this concerns about 700,000 paid subscribers, according to the company, it is the first worldwide decline in its subscriber base due to the withdrawal.
