Nearly 170 Migrants Rescued in Channel

In the Channel between Great Britain and France, 166 migrants were rescued who tried to make the illegal crossing to the British mainland.

This was announced by the Maritime Prefecture of the Channel on Thursday. One migrant was taken to hospital by helicopter.

On Wednesday morning, four French ships brought 144 migrants to the port of Boulogne-sur-Mer.

They had been rescued the night before in the Pas de Calais. In the afternoon, a French customs patrol boat rescued 22 people from a boat.

The number of attempts to cross the Channel increased sharply during the first half of 2022. Last year was already a record year in that regard.
