More Than 60 Arrests in Minneapolis Riots

More than 60 people have been arrested in riots at Brooklyn Center on the north side of Minneapolis, USA.

According to the police, many were guilty of vandalism and rioting, and corona measures were not enforced. For the third consecutive evening, there have been disturbances in the congregation where a black young man, Daunte Wright, was shot dead on Sunday afternoon as he fiercely opposed his arrest.

According to local media, the man was wanted for illegal possession of weapons and an attempted robbery and had previously escaped arrest. According to police, the officer who fired her firearm would have done this accidentally and actually wanted to grab her taser.

At Brooklyn Center, protesters against police violence and rioters have taken to the streets following the incident. Numerous protesters have demanded in front of the police station that an independent investigation be conducted into Wright’s death on Tuesday.

The State of Minnesota has sent the state guard and police officers to Brooklyn Center to assist the local police. Last year, black George Floyd was killed in a heavy-handed arrest in Minneapolis. His death sparked massive protests, destruction and looting across the US. The trial of the agent responsible for Floyd’s death, Derek Chauvin, has recently begun in Minneapolis.
