Kremlin: Russian Troops will Leave Belarus as Soon as Exercise Ends

The Russian troops will leave Belarus as soon as our military exercise is completed. Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov said.

“For those who follow it closely, no one ever claimed that Russian troops would remain on Belarusian territory,” the spokesman said in response to the Interfax news agency.

The Kremlin has brought large numbers of troops and equipment to Minsk for training, which was scheduled to begin on Thursday.

In the West, the démarche is reacting with concern for fear of an invasion of Ukraine by Russia.
