The new US arms shipments announced on Wednesday following Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to Washington will only exacerbate the conflict with Russia. The Kremlin said on Wednesday.
“All this will certainly exacerbate the conflict and does not bode well for Ukraine,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, referring to the new arms shipments to Kyiv.
However, he also said he does not expect Zelensky to change his position on the refusal to negotiate with Vladimir Putin after the visit.
Zelensky travelled to Washington on Wednesday – his first trip abroad since the start of the war – to address the US Congress and meet President Joe Biden in person for a second time.
During that meeting, the US will announce new military support for Zelensky’s country, including in the form of Patriot anti-aircraft systems.
