It’s Already 2022 on These Islands in the Pacific Ocean, Big Fireworks Show in Sydney

The first countries have already ushered in the new year at 11 am. Belgian time. It is now 2022 in New Zealand and on the small islands of Samoa, Tonga and Kiribati in the Pacific Ocean.

For the second year, the celebrations worldwide consider the corona pandemic.

A year ago, fireworks were not allowed in Samoa, but that was now allowed again. Many miles away in the city of Auckland, in northern New Zealand, a light show starts at midnight, where there is usually a fireworks show.

Australia will ring in the new year at 2 pm GMT with a major fireworks display in Sydney. The first countries in Asia, including Japan, South Korea and China, start the new year when it is an afternoon. North and South America are the last continents celebrated old and new.

Just like a year ago, festivities are cancelled again in many places or only in a slimmed-down form. For example, Paris doesn’t have a big fireworks show.
