Hamilton and Bottas Slightly Faster Than Verstappen in Second Training

Max Verstappen set the third-fastest time in his Red Bull in the second free practice for the Austrian Grand Prix. The Dutchman, who leads the Formula 1 championship, saw the two drivers of competitor Mercedes drive a little faster on the Red Bull Ring.

Reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton clocked the best time: 1.04.523. His Finnish teammate Valtteri Bottas was just 0.189 seconds slower. Verstappen conceded 0.217 seconds on Hamilton.

Canadian Lance Stroll was fourth fastest in his Aston Martin. He was 0.616 seconds slower than Hamilton.

Hamilton, Bottas and Verstappen drove their times on the same tires in the same conditions. It could be a harbinger of an exciting race on Sunday. Last Sunday, Verstappen won the Grand Prix of Styria on the same circuit with force majeure. He strengthened his leading position in the world championship with his fourth win of the season.

In the first free practice, Verstappen was still the fastest.
