Gas Shortage Threatens the EU Next Winter

The European Union has enough gas for this winter but could face a gas shortage next year if Russia cuts supplies even further.

This is the conclusion of the energy agency IEA and the European Commission.

“Despite the measures we have taken, we could still face a shortfall of up to 30 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas next year,” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen told a news conference.

She referred to data from the International Energy Agency that will be published on Monday.
