EU president goes into quarantine as French president Emmanuel Macron has tested positive for Covid-19.
The French authorities have informed Michel of the contamination but “do not consider him a close contact” of Macron, Michel’s spokesman tweeted.
Nevertheless, Michel isolates himself “as a precaution”. Michel saw and spoke to Macron on Monday in Paris and last week on Thursday and Friday at an EU summit in Brussels.
Prime Minister Mark Rutte and other EU leaders also attended the latter occasion.
According to his spokesman, Michel is regularly checked for possible contamination and had a negative test on Tuesday.
