Ethiopia and Eritrea Sign Peace Agreement after 20 Years of Conflict. In Asmara, the capital of Eritrea, the leaders of Ethiopia and Eritrea have signed a peace agreement.

 

It is a historic day for both African countries because with this agreement there is an official end to twenty years of war.

The Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and the president of Eritrea Isaias Afwerki put an end to the twentieth-year border dispute and are going to restore diplomatic ties and trade relations again.

 

Both leaders today signed the agreement and agreed, among other things, to open embassies in their respective capitals, resume flights between the two countries and re-use the port facilities in Eritrea.
