Elon Musk met VW CEO Herbert Diess during his recent visit to Germany. Tesla’s big boss also made a test drive in Volkswagen’s first electric model, the ID.3.
He also inspected Volkswagens latest electric car, the ID.4, which will be released later this year, Bloomberg news agency reports based on insiders.
Musk and Diess met on Thursday evening at a small airport in Braunschweig just before the Tesla boss was due to fly back to the United States. The meeting lasted about two hours. Diess has regularly spoken positively about Tesla and Musk in the past.
On Friday, Diess wrote on business social network LinkedIn that Tesla’s new factory is bringing “future automotive technology” to Germany.
According to the VW boss, this will “shake up competition in Germany and significantly accelerate the transformation of the existing industry”.
Musk was in Germany to visit Tesla’s new factory near Berlin. He also visited the pharmaceutical company CureVac and met the German Minister of Economic Affairs Peter Altmaier.
