Airline EasyJet will not cancel flights at Schiphol this weekend. The budget airline is the second-largest user of the national airport and reports it will “operate as planned” on Saturday and Sunday.
It is not yet known at KLM what will happen with the flight schedule. However, Schiphol is consulting with airlines about solutions to prevent large crowds in the departure halls.
The airport mainly aims at moving flights to other airports in the Netherlands. They have already indicated that they can take over a total of several dozen flights.
Staff shortages at security and handling companies threatened chaos on last weekend’s busy weekend days. Schiphol, therefore, asked airlines to reduce the influx of travellers. Dozens of flights were then cancelled.
During this May holiday, an average of 174,000 passengers per day will travel via Schiphol, but Saturdays and Sundays are relatively busier.
