There are already about 450 million users of 5G in China, the latest generation of mobile internet. That was revealed this week from figures from the Chinese government.
China already started in 2019 as one of the first countries in the world to roll out 5G technology. The Chinese Huawei is also one of the forerunners in the sector. Meanwhile, most smartphones in Asian countries are compatible with 5G. More than a million 5G antennas have already been installed, and China wants to accelerate that expansion.
According to the Chinese Ministry of Technology, the country already has about 450 million users, which is more than the entire population of the European Union. The country also accounts for eighty percent of all 5G users worldwide.
In Belgium, this technology is only available to a very limited extent: certain companies such as Brussels Airport are testing a number of applications. The auction for the 5G spectrum in our country is expected in the middle of next year at the earliest.
