Brussels Requires Billions Of Pounds In Customs Cooperation

Brussels requires Billions of Pounds in Customs Cooperation: EU Commissioner Pierre Moscovici asks EU countries to invest 834 million pounds in programs in the coming years to enhance cooperation, reports Forbes News.

 

Moscovici wants customs services in the European Union to cooperate more and better to detect dangerous and fake goods more quickly.

The European Commission believes that after the last year interception of 2.7 million weapons and 188,000 explosives, this stream of faulty goods possible to reduce if authorities exchange information more efficiently.

Investment is in the interest of both citizens and businesses, according to Moscovici. According to him, better cooperation needed “a minimum cost price” of 834 million pounds (0.07 percent of the budget for the period 2021-2027).

The European Commission also wants the IT systems of the national tax authorities to maintain efficiency to reduce fraud.

The committee wants to put 237 million pounds in the budget for this. For example, EU countries now miss out on a total of 43 billion pounds a year due to VAT fraud.
