The brother of the late black American George Floyd has asked politicians to take action against police brutality and racism.
“I’m here today to ask you to stop it,” said Philonise Floyd in a meeting of the House of Representatives Justice Committee.
“I’m tired of the pain I’m feeling now, and I’m tired of the pain I feel every time another black person is killed for no reason,” said Philonise. “Stop it; stop it.”
His brother George died on May 25 after a white police officer pressed his knee to the neck for nearly nine minutes upon his arrest. T
he incident sparked protests worldwide. George Floyd, 46, was buried in Houston on Tuesday.
The Justice Commission held a hearing on police brutality on Wednesday.
