These are exciting hours in the UK. Top civil servant Sue Gray has handed over her report on the alleged parties in the garden of Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s residence to Downing Street. The prime minister has announced that he will make a statement in parliament at 4.30 pm.
“We can confirm that Sue Gray has submitted a report on her investigation to the Prime Minister,” a Johnson spokeswoman told British media. The report says is now the question that the United Kingdom wants an answer to.
Gray had been ordered to investigate the parties allegedly held in Johnson’s official residence garden during the lockdown. However, the British Prime Minister himself has already indicated that he is not convinced that these were “parties” and sowed doubts about whether what happened there was against the rules.
The question is how deep the report goes into the parties. Last week, the police asked not to go too deeply into matters that the force is investigating. However, the Prime Minister’s Office has promised Johnson will be held accountable once he reads the report. That will happen at 4.30 pm (our time) in the British House of Commons.
